Gambling tax: Everything about gambling tax (if you win in a casino)
Playing in a legal Dutch online casino is fun – provided you never play for money that you don't want or can't afford to miss. We at online casino Goldrun Casino cannot repeat it often enough, please let play remain a game.
You can win at gambling. And we at Goldrun Casino always hope you win. But you can also lose your bet. You know that and we are also 100% honest and 100% transparent about it. Therefore: determine in advance the maximum amount you want to play for. And then it is: are you lucky or unfortunately not? Because winning in an online casino is a matter of luck.
There are no betting strategies that always win you.
Incidentally, there is someone who always wins, from players in casinos. That is the Dutch tax authorities. Dutch casinos and therefore also Dutch online casinos must pay Gaming Tax. Whether a casino is running at a profit or a loss, Gambling Tax must be paid.
But does a player like you have to pay taxes if you win (great!)? What do you think? Read along in the Online Goldrun Casino Guide about Gaming Tax. And, this time, we'll keep it short. Because of tax, we don't think that's such a cheerful subject. What you?!
Do I pay tax on my winnings in an online casino?
You as a player do not pay tax on your winnings that you cash in any legal Dutch online casino. All online casinos in the Netherlands are responsible for the Gaming Tax.
So no. You pay when you play and when you win in a legal physical casino (Holland Casino) or a legal online casino in the Netherlands (Goldrun Casino), with no Gaming Tax.
If you win the jackpot, and we at Goldrun Casino mean a real jackpot, you will pay wealth tax later, but you will probably not mind that by then, trust us.
Moreover. If you win money in a land-based Holland Casino casino, you also do not pay gambling tax.
And if I win a prize in a casino outside the Netherlands?
If you win money in a casino in the European Union and you live in Europe, you also do not pay tax on your casino winnings.
Do I have to pay tax on casino winnings outside the European Union?
In that case, usually yes. Often you can make it relatively easy for yourself despite that.
If you win big in a casino outside the EU, you often have the choice to have your prize paid out taxed. The advantage: is then you no longer have to file a tax return with the Dutch tax authorities. Do ask for proof on the spot that you have already paid the Betting and Gaming Tax on the spot. Then you will not (any longer) get the Dutch tax authorities on your roof.
